How To Operate The Winch

In short, the operation of a winch can be divided into three steps: installation, fixing the fulcrum, and dragging.
1、 Installation.
The use of a winch naturally starts with installation. Although not complex, it is the most important step as it directly affects the subsequent steps and the effectiveness of the winch. The most important thing is to pay attention to the condition of the winch drum, and ensure that the winch is evenly wound before starting and throughout the entire use process. The specific installation process is as follows:
1. Insert the remote control. Insert the remote control cable end into the winch.
2. Do not let the remote control cable hang. Drivers can operate the remote control from the driver's seat and wrap excess wiring around the side rearview mirror, making it much more convenient to work.
3. Open the winch, use the remote control to release the winch a bit, and then open the winch hook installed on the side of the winch.
4. Open the clutch. Be sure to open the hook before opening the clutch.
5. Grasp the noose hook with your hand. When pulling the noose off the drum, hold the hook with one hand, and no matter how long you pull the noose, you will not miss the hook.
6. After pulling the hinge to the fulcrum, lock the clutch. The winch is ready.
2、 Fixed fulcrum.
If you want to pull the car forward, there must be a safe place to fix the fulcrum, and the fulcrum must also be able to bear the full weight of the car. The most basic principle is to pull towards the front of the car's movement without any angle. The most commonly used fulcrum in off-road driving is a tree. However, if a winch is used to rescue another trapped vehicle, the rescue vehicle can also serve as a fulcrum, but the wheels must be blocked so that they cannot roll, ensuring that the rescue vehicle will not move.
No matter what type of winch is used, without a safe fulcrum, its potential cannot be fully realized. That is to say, fixing the fulcrum is a crucial step when using a winch.
When using a winch, a strap is also required to connect the winch, fulcrum, and cable hook and U-shaped lifting eye. If the winch does not have enough force to drag heavy objects with a single wire, it needs to be reinforced with a double wire and a tightening pulley is also needed.
Another thing to note is that when using a tree as a fulcrum, the widest part of the strap should be used to prevent the strap from getting stuck in the bark and damaging the tree. Additionally, the left and right ends of the strap must be tied to both sides of the lifting ear, and the length of the straps on both sides must be the same.
